The Supreme Court has appointed Justice R to investigate the allegations of use of force on the Cockroach Janata Party protesters in the Jantar Mantar protest case. A high power committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Subhash Reddy. Taking a strict stance, the Supreme Court has constituted a 5-member inquiry committee, headed by Justice R. Subhash Reddy will do it. This team will thoroughly investigate the use of pellet guns and alleged violence against women.
This committee will impartially investigate the facts of violence and use of police force during the protest. The committee is headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice R. Subhash Reddy will do.
The Supreme Court has taken charge of the investigation into the Jantar Mantar protest case. Former Supreme Court judge Justice R. Has been handed over to Subhash Reddy. Apart from this, the Supreme Court has included many big names of the country in this high power committee. Former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Ravi Shankar Jha, former Delhi High Court Judge Shailendra Kaur, former CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla and former DGP of Meghalaya L.R. Bishnoi is also in the committee.
This committee will investigate the excessive use of pellet guns, electric lathis, lathi charge and tear gas. The protesters allege that the police have misused their power. Besides, matters related to alleged violence against women protesters, methods of crowd control, treatment of the injured and compensation to the victims will also be investigated.
Amidst the questions being raised on police action, this committee will investigate and submit its report. The issue of compensation to the injured will also be before the committee. This high level committee will investigate various aspects of the incidents and police action during the protest.
Delhi Police had told the Supreme Court in the hearing on August 18 that the Parliament march on July 20 was illegal, in which many history-sheeters had also participated. The protesters were not allowed to demonstrate.
