Automobile Desk – Mahindra & Mahindra, which has established its dominance in the Indian electric car market, has launched its popular three-row SUV XEV 9S in the market with a new captain seat option. Till now this vehicle was available only in 7-seater option, but keeping in mind the customer demand and need of premium comfort, the company has introduced its 6-seater variant. With this new update, this car is ready to give direct competition to vehicles like Tata Harrier EV, Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMAX 7.
How much was the difference in price?
The company has increased the prices of all variants of 6-seater captain seat by only Rs 20,000 as compared to 7-seater.
- Pack Two Above (70 kWh): The 7-seater is priced at Rs 25.80 lakh, while the new 6-seater model will be available for Rs 26.00 lakh.
- Pack Two Above (79 kWh): The 7-seater model is priced at Rs 26.70 lakh, while the 6-seater Captain Seat variant will be priced at Rs 26.90 lakh.
- Pack Three (70 kWh): The 7-seater variant comes at Rs 28.60 lakh, while its 6-seater avatar is priced at Rs 28.80 lakh.
- Pack Three Above (79 kWh): The 7-seater is priced at Rs 30.70 lakh and the top 6-seater variant will be available at Rs 30.90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Where earlier Mahindra XEV 9S remained the first choice for large families due to its 7-seat capacity, now with the addition of captain seats in the second row, its cabin looks quite luxurious and comfortable. Rear passengers will now get more legroom, better thigh support and a personal space experience during long journeys. Market experts believe that this 6-seater option will prove to be very suitable for customers who like driver-driven cars or want executive class comfort.
Unique combination of features and tech
Mahindra has left no stone unturned in the facilities available inside the cabin. The car has a triple-screen dashboard, which includes three separate 12.3-inch screens (infotainment, driver display and front passenger screen). Apart from this, features like large panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging pad, powered front seats with memory function and dual-zone automatic climate control available in every variant increase the utility of the vehicle manifold.

This SUV is also very strong in terms of safety. Mahindra has given Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology in it. There are also advanced safety features like 7 airbags, 360-degree view camera, Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and ISOFIX child seat mounts for the safety of children.
