Javed Akhtar on Asif Ali Zardari: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is in the news because of one of his statements. On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, he had made a controversial comment regarding the Hindu population in his country. In fact, he said that Muslims in Pakistan are tolerant towards Hindus and Hindus prefer to live in Pakistan rather than India.
Famous film writer Javed Akhtar has given his reaction on this statement of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari. In which he expressed strong disagreement with the statement of the Pakistani President.
Taunted Zardari in a special way
Javed Akhtar took a special dig at the statement of the Pakistani President. This style of Javed Akhtar is being discussed a lot on social media. Javed Akhtar challenged Zardari’s statement on social media platform Mr. Zardari, I understand your point. You have always been insensitive towards those whose population is less than 10 percent.
Zardari was nicknamed ‘Mr 10 percent’
Asif Ali Zardari was nicknamed ‘Mr 10 Percent’ in the 1980s and 1990s. This name was given because of the allegations of corruption against him at that time. The allegation was that he used to demand 10 percent commission for approving government projects. In 1990, the then acting Prime Minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi had also accused Zardari of taking commission in matters related to government projects and bank loans. Because of which his surname became quite famous.
What was the whole matter?
Actually Asif Ali Zardari was trying to take a dig at India on his country’s Independence Day. A video of this has gone viral. In which he can be heard saying that Indians have a different perspective. He has his own agenda in mind. He believes in ‘Akhand Bharat’. But they have forgotten a lot. We are Muslims and they are not. Still our stand is that we tolerate 3-4 percent Hindu population living in Pakistan. They get the same freedom and rights that people get elsewhere. They (Hindus) would rather live with us than with them.
