Jharkhand closed in protest against lathicharge on students, BJP took to the streets, Congress called it 'drama'

Ranchi: The movement of JPSC-JSSC candidates is continuously increasing in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a statewide bandh on Tuesday in support of the students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and other demands. Let us tell you that BJP has taken this step after the clash between police and protesting students during the assembly siege on Monday.

Keeping an eye on security arrangements

In view of the Jharkhand bandh, security arrangements have been tightened in many parts of the state including Ranchi. Along with this, additional police force has been deployed in the capital. Sensitive areas are being monitored through CCTV and drones. Many private schools have also declared holiday as a precautionary measure. However, BJP has kept hospitals, ambulances and other essential services out of the bandh.

Clash between police and students in assembly siege

According to the information, on Monday the students had tried to surround the Jharkhand Assembly with their demands. During this, tension increased between the protesters and the police after breaking the barricades. Police used water cannon, tear gas and lathi charge to control the situation. According to officials, several protesters were injured in the incident, while four policemen also suffered injuries.

Jharkhand BJP chief spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said that the state bandh has been announced in protest against the lathicharge on students. He demanded the government to conduct a CBI inquiry to investigate the alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations. According to BJP state president Aditya Sahu, the bandh will be effective from 8 am to 12 midnight.

Government and opposition face to face

Chief Minister Hemant Soren accused BJP of giving political color to the students' movement. He said that the opposition party is trying to mislead the students to take political advantage. Along with this, Soren appealed to the protesting students to find a solution through talks. At the same time, Congress called BJP's bandh a political show. The party has demanded an impartial investigation into the use of force on students and action against policemen found guilty. The students' agitation against irregularities in recruitment examinations entered the 18th day on Tuesday.
