Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday busted a gang allegedly involved in printing fake currency and supplying counterfeit notes in different parts of the country.
Three persons, who are natives of Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, were arrested in this connection from a rented accommodation on the outskirts of Jammu city, where they had allegedly set up a facility for printing counterfeit currency.
According to a police spokesperson, in a significant action against activities involving counterfeit currency, Police Post Sainik Colony, Police Station Channi Himmat, arrested three persons in connection with the alleged printing and manufacturing of counterfeit currency notes at a rented premises in the Chowadhi area of Jammu.
The case came to light following reliable information regarding suspected counterfeit currency-related activity being carried out at the rented premises. Acting promptly on the information, a police team from Police Post Sainik Colony reached the spot and apprehended three persons identified as:
Vijay Sahani, son of Nagina Sahani, a resident of Siwan, Bihar, presently living at Preet Nagar, Digana, Jammu.
Indrajeet Kumar, son of Abdesh Mandal, a resident of Maharajpur, Sahib Ganj, Jharkhand, currently living at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Rahul Ahirwar, son of Bhagwan Das Ahirwar, a resident of Khajraoo, Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, currently living in Marble Market, Jammu.
During a search of the premises, police recovered and seized suspected low-quality counterfeit currency notes of Rs 100 denomination amounting to Rs 13,500, along with a printing machine, a paper cutter, ink bottles of different colours, one toka and other documents/material suspected to be connected with the activity. The recovered items were seized in accordance with the prescribed legal procedure.
In this connection, FIR No. 269/2026 under Sections 178, 180, 181 and 3(5) of the BNS and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat, and an investigation has been initiated.
The investigation is focused on establishing the complete modus operandi, identifying the source and intended circulation of the suspected counterfeit currency, and ascertaining the involvement of any other persons in the activity.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the currency system and taking strict legal action against persons involved in the manufacture, possession, circulation or other unlawful activities relating to counterfeit currency.
