Former India captain Rohit Sharma had a brief scare after slipping while getting off the team bus following India’s eight-wicket victory over the West Indies in the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the clip, Rohit can be seen walking down the stairs of the team bus while carrying a bag and some papers when he suddenly loses his footing and slips.
Police personnel and team staff members immediately rushed to help the veteran batter back on his feet. Rohit appeared to regain his balance and walked towards the team hotel. No injury has been reported following the incident.
The incident took place after India secured a comfortable eight-wicket win over the West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Greenfield International Stadium.
Rohit opened the innings for India and scored 32 runs off 35 balls, hitting two fours and three sixes. He added 74 runs for the opening wicket with captain Shubman Gill before being dismissed.

Gill went on to score 110, while Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 139 as India chased down West Indies’ 295/7 in 41.4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was India’s standout bowler, finishing with figures of 4/40.
The victory gave India a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The second ODI is scheduled to be played in Guwahati on September 30.
