The Ken-Betwa Link Project is India’s first major river interlinking initiative. This project is said to be worth about ₹ 44,000 crore, the purpose of which is to transfer the surplus water of Ken River of Madhya Pradesh to Betwa River of Uttar Pradesh, so that all the drought-hit areas of Bundelkhand like Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna and Jhansi can get the facility of irrigation, drinking water and electricity. Talking about the timeline of its construction work, a target of 8 years has been set to complete this ₹44,600 crore project, and a major part of it is to be completed by March 2030. But due to the violent movements of the villagers like Jal and Chita Satyagraha, there is a deadlock in work at some places.

According to the information, to increase the agitation like every day, the agitators started descending into the Barana river at 5 in the morning. Many of them lay down on the symbolic pyres, some started climbing on the cross, started making symbolic demonstrations like hanging from the noose and as soon as the Chhatarpur police and administration reached the protest site, all the agitators started moving towards the deep flow of the river. There was tension between the two sides for hours but after hard work of the administration, they were successful in getting them out of the river. In such a situation, the protesting women were removed from the spot by the women policemen present there. On which the people present there alleged that during this time there was a scuffle with the women, due to the fighting many of them got injured and many women became unconscious.

Movement leader Amit Bhatnagar also remained engaged in the movement. Have been on hunger strike for the last 11 days. To take them out, administrative officials also had to enter the river but due to the strong current and depth, they had to step back. After which, after explaining for a long time, Amit himself came out and then with his consent he was sent to the hospital by ambulance. But on this Amit said that it was a ploy of the administration to remove him from the protest site on the pretext of treatment.

According to the doctor, Amit Bhatnagar has been brought to the hospital for health checkup and necessary medical care. It is noteworthy that this entire movement was going on demanding compensation in the Ken-Betwa project.
