Massive fire in Kenya’s girls hostel, 16 girl students dead, 79 girls injured

New Delhi. A massive fire broke out late last night in the hostel of Utumishi Girls Academy located in Gilgil area of ​​Nakuru County, Kenya. So far 16 girl students have died in this tragic accident, while 79 girl students are said to be injured. Treatment of all the injured is continuing in the hospital.

According to the information, the fire broke out in the boarding hostel of the school, where a large number of girl students were present at that time. After the accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the entire area. Relief and rescue teams reached the spot and started the operation to rescue the girl students.

Kenya’s Education Minister Julius Ogamba confirmed the incident and said that more than 800 girl students study in the school. At present the cause of the fire has not been known, but the administration is investigating from every aspect.

According to Kenya Red Cross, ambulances and emergency teams reached the spot as soon as the information was received. Along with controlling the fire, relief work was also carried out rapidly. Incidents of fire in boarding schools in Kenya have been reported before. In many cases, reasons like short-circuit, negligence or arson have come to light. At present the administration is busy investigating this accident.
