South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia has unveiled its new flagship SUV Kia Sorento in the Indian automobile market. With the intention of strengthening its hold in the premium 7-seater SUV segment, the company has included modern technology, powerful hybrid powertrain and many high-level safety standards in this vehicle.
30-inch curved display and premium cabin features
The interior of the new Kia Sorento has been completely redesigned. The main feature of the dashboard is the massive 30-inch curved display panel. It has an integrated 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver cluster.
To make the cabin more comfortable and hi-tech, several key features have been provided in it:
- Sound and connectivity: 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- Comfort and Convenience: Front ventilated seats, dual-tone premium interior, panoramic sunroof, and digital AC control panel.
- Interior Tech: AI voice assistant, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, rotary gear dial and push-button start/stop.
- Exterior design: Full-LED headlamps, signature LED DRLs, LED fog lamps and muscular roof rails.
1.6-litre turbo hybrid engine: combination of power and torque
On the performance front, advanced powertrain has been used in Kia Sorento. This SUV has been introduced with Smartstream 1.6-litre turbo GDi hybrid engine.
This powertrain generates power from two different sources:
- Petrol Engine: Produces 180 PS of maximum power and 265 Nm of peak torque.
- Electric Motor: Provides 65 PS of additional power and 264 Nm of instant torque.
According to the company, this hybrid setup not only gives faster acceleration to the heavy-duty SUV, but also helps in giving better mileage by reducing fuel consumption. Apart from this, keeping in mind the demand of the Indian market, it is also planned to be introduced in diesel engine option.
Safety: 360-degree camera and ADAS technology
In terms of safety, Kia has given a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in this SUV. Along with this, safety features like 360-degree parking camera, blind-spot monitoring, cruise control and multiple airbags are available as standard in the vehicle.
