KKR defeated LSG in Super Over, Rinku Singh and Sunil Narayan became the heroes of victory.

The 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which resulted in a Super Over. KKR has won the Super Over and pushed LSG to the last position in the points table. In this exciting match held at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday (April 26), KKR, when invited to bat first, scored 155 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. In reply, LSG also gave 155 runs after losing 8 wickets.

 

After this the match reached Super Over, in which LSG team who came to bat first could score only 1 run. Sunil Narayan clean bowled Nicholas Pooran on the first ball of the Super Over and then had Aiden Markram caught at long on on the third ball. After taking the catch on the boundary line, Rovman Powell saw that his body balance was not right, so he tossed the ball towards Rinku Singh and ended Markram’s innings. KKR needed only 2 runs to win the match and Rinku gave them their second consecutive win by hitting a four on the very first ball of Prince Yadav.

Shami tied the match by hitting a six on the last ball

Half of LSG’s team chasing the target was limited to 93 runs only. Mitchell Marsh (2), Aiden Markram (31), captain Rishabh Pant (42), Nicholas Pooran (9) and Mukul Chaudhary (1) had returned to the pavilion. From here, Ayush Badoni and Himmat Singh, who came as impact players, took charge and raised the hopes of LSG. However, KKR again pushed the host team on the backfoot by walking Badoni (24).

 

LSG had to score 28 runs in the last 2 overs. Vaibhav Arora, who came in the 19th over, spent only 11 runs and also took the wicket of George Linde (8). Now LSG needed 17 runs in the last over. Kartik Tyagi, who bowled the last over for KKR, gave only 11 runs in 5 balls despite bowling two no-balls and also took the wicket of Himmat. The match seemed to be in the hands of KKR but Mohammed Shami leveled the score with a six on the last ball, which gave LSG a chance to make a comeback but they surrendered in the Super Over.

Rinku Singh played a brilliant inning of 83 runs.

Earlier, KKR had lost 7 wickets for 93 runs when put to bat first. KKR’s innings seemed to be falling below 120 but Rinku Singh stood at one end and took it to a fightable score. Rinku played an unbeaten inning of 83 runs in 51 balls. During this, 7 fours and 5 sixes came out of his bat, out of which he hit 4 sixes in the last over against Digvesh Rathi. After batting brilliantly, Rinku showed agility in the field and took 4 important catches. He was awarded the Player of the Match award.
