Kritika Kamra believes that the strongest foundation of any successful relationship is friendship. He told that there was friendship between him and Gaurav Kapoor from the beginning, which made their relationship comfortable and strong. He said, “We both respect each other’s personal space and career. We both are from outside Mumbai and have made a place in the industry on our own, so we understand each other’s struggles.”
Kritika also told that both of them started working from an early age, which helped them understand the ups and downs of professional life and the same understanding is visible in their relationship as well.
Life did not change after marriage
Often, big changes are expected in life after marriage, but according to Kritika, nothing much changed in her life. She said, “In our marriage, both of us are equal. Neither do I have any responsibilities on her, nor do I have any on her. We handle things according to our respective strengths. Kritika also talked about the traditional marriage system and said that patriarchal thinking still dominates in many places in the society, where more expectations are placed on women. However, she considers herself lucky that she got freedom in her career and personal decisions.
Kritika and Gaurav’s thinking regarding household chores is modern and balanced. He told that both of them have been living alone for a long time, hence both share the responsibility of managing the house. Giving an interesting example, she said, “When I was busy promoting my series and Gaurav had an IPL schedule, he used to arrange lunch before his evening shift. We both run the house together.
Marriage decision: consent of heart and mind
Kritika Kamra also spoke openly about her perspective on marriage. She said that she has always taken the institution of marriage seriously. I always thought that only when my heart and mind both say ‘yes’ together, I will get married,” she said. She also revealed that she and Gaurav did not meet for the purpose of marriage, but with time both of them started understanding each other better and this understanding took the relationship to marriage.
