Kunafa Recipe: This Rakhi, make soft and crunchy Kunafa at home, feed this special sweet to your brother instead of Gulab Jamun

Kunafa can add a different flavor to the Rakshabandhan sweet plate. It can be prepared easily with the help of Kunafa pastry, butter, mozzarella cheese and sweet syrup.

Ingredients for making Kunafa
For Kunafa:

  • 250 g kunafa or katafi pastry
  • 100 grams melted butter
  • 250 grams mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped pistachios

For syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • half cup water
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Half teaspoon rose water or kewra water

How to make Crispy Cheesy Kunafa
Step 1: Make the syrup

Add sugar and water in the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add lemon juice to it and turn off the gas. If desired, add rose water and let the syrup cool.

Step 2: Prepare Kunafa
Break the kunafa pastry into small pieces. Add melted butter and mix well, so that the butter coats the entire pastry.

Step 3: Layer the cheese
Spread half the kunafa in the baking dish and press gently. Apply a layer of mozzarella cheese on top of it and spread the remaining Kunafa on top.

How to make Crispy Cheesy Kunafa

Step 4: Bake
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Bake the kunafa for about 30-35 minutes. When it becomes golden and crisp from above, take it out. If there is no oven, it can be prepared in a heavy bottomed pan on low flame in about 20-25 minutes.

Step 5: Add syrup and pistachios
Pour cold syrup over hot kunafa and garnish with chopped pistachios. Serve it hot on the occasion of Rakshabandhan.

Cut the Kunafa into small pieces and serve in a dessert plate. Adding pistachios and some rose petals on top will make it look festive too.

Tip: To keep the Kunafa crispy, add syrup only as per requirement and after it is ready, serve it hot.
