Kushinagar: Cabinet Minister Dr. Sanjay Nishad reached the flood affected village an hour before the scheduled time.

Kushinagar. To take stock of the actual situation of the flood affected areas, Cabinet Minister of Fisheries Department, Dr. Sanjay Nishad reached villages Salikpur and Mahdeva of Khadda tehsil area on Wednesday, about an hour before the scheduled program. According to the schedule, his arrival time was scheduled at 11:30 am, whereas he reached the spot at around 10:30 am. Apart from taking stock of the flood affected areas, he also interacted directly with the villagers, listened to their problems and distributed relief material to the affected families.

The Minister said that merely reaching the spot at the scheduled time is not enough to understand the actual situation of an area. By arriving well in time to take stock of the situation in the area and directly communicating with the villagers, the real problems on the ground can be understood better.

*Instructions for preparing action plan for Ring Dam* The villagers told the Minister that every year many villages in the area get hit by floods when the water level of Narayani river increases. This has adverse effects on homes, crops, traffic and livestock. The villagers demanded the construction of a ring dam for a permanent solution to the flood problem.

Taking seriously the demand of the villagers, Honorable Minister Dr. Sanjay Nishad instructed the Deputy District Magistrate Khadda Dr. Santram Baghel and MLA Khadda Vivekananda Pandey present on the spot to prepare the necessary action plan regarding the construction of the ring dam. He said that after the action plan is prepared, the matter will be placed before the Chief Minister, so that necessary action can be taken towards a permanent solution to the flood problem.

*Instructions to speed up relief and rescue work* The Cabinet Minister directed the SDO of the flood division that there should be no negligence in the relief and rescue work in the flood affected areas. The officers should continuously monitor the flood situation and ensure timely delivery of relief material to the needy families. He instructed the administrative teams to remain active in the villages and solve the problems of the villagers on the spot.

*Instructions to organize health and veterinary camps in flood affected areas* In view of the health related problems arising due to floods, the Minister directed the Chief Medical Officer to organize health camps in flood affected villages. He asked to ensure health checkup of the affected people and availability of essential medicines.

In this sequence, he also instructed the Chief Veterinary Officer to organize veterinary camps in the flood affected areas. He said that livestock also gets affected during floods. In such a situation, testing, treatment of animals and availability of necessary medicines should be ensured.

Government is providing help in the spirit of 'people's door'

Addressing the villagers, Dr. Sanjay Nishad said that the government stands with the affected families in the difficult situation of flood. In accordance with the spirit of 'Government at the People's Door', officers and concerned departments are reaching the flood affected areas and carrying out relief and rescue work. He said that all possible assistance will be provided to the affected people and the families who need relief material should be provided material on priority basis.

Distribution of relief material

The Cabinet Minister distributed relief material to the flood affected families in villages Salikpur and Mahdeva. During this, he personally interacted with the villagers and got information about other problems related to floods. The villagers put forward various problems before him including transportation, health, animals, relief materials and permanent relief from floods.

The Minister instructed the concerned officials to take necessary action on the problems of the villagers. He said that relief and rescue operations will continue continuously and all possible assistance will be provided to the affected people. On this occasion, Honorable MLA Khadda Vivekanand Pandey, BJP Mandal President Sandeep Srivastava, Sub-Collector Khadda Dr. Santram Baghel, Nagar Panchayat Chhitauni President Ashok Nishad, Hanumanganj Police Station Head Digvijay Narayan Rai, Khadda Police Station Head Sandeep Singh along with officers and employees of related departments, local public representatives and a large number of villagers were present.
