Padrauna/Tamkuhiraj, Kushinagar. The flood of Gandak river has made the situation more serious in Kushinagar. AP embankment broke due to rathole in Jawahi Dayal-Chainpatti of Tamkuhiraj tehsil area at around 11 pm on Monday night. As soon as the embankment broke, the flood water started spreading rapidly towards the surrounding villages and fields. Hundreds of acres of crops have been submerged, while villagers have started moving towards safe places with essential goods.
Due to continuous rains and water coming from Nepal, the water pressure in Gandak river remains constant. Amidst the strong water pressure, erosion increased due to rathole in the AP embankment and the embankment broke late in the night. After this, there is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers due to the spread of flood water in the surrounding areas.
Danger on main dam also increased
There is pressure on the main dam also, about 500 meters before the AP embankment breaks. In view of the possible danger, the flood department employees are standing on the spot and are trying to secure the dam by pouring soil and boulders. The situation is also being continuously monitored by the administration.
SDRF and administration engaged in relief and rescue
After the embankment breach, SDRF and local administration teams have started relief and rescue work. Efforts are being made to take people to safe places in the affected areas. Villagers are moving towards safe places with their families and essential goods.
Chief Minister took stock of aerial survey
In view of the serious flood situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of the situation by conducting an aerial survey of the affected area. The biggest challenge before the administration is to control the spread of flood water along with evacuating the affected people safely.
After the breach of the embankment, the concern of the villagers in Jawahi Dayal-Chainpatti and surrounding villages has increased. The administration and rescue teams are continuously monitoring the situation.
