New Delhi. In the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) held on Tuesday, Congress clarified its stand regarding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi said in the meeting that Gyanesh Kumar will have to step down from the post and his resignation is certain. Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself would get his resignation.
In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said that it would be good if Gyanesh Kumar resigns and even if he does not, the Congress movement will continue. He said that as long as Gyanesh Kumar is in office, the party will continue its campaign on this issue. In the meeting, Congress also discussed its strategy regarding the election process and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
Rahul Gandhi made three proposals
Rahul Gandhi made three major proposals in the CWC meeting. in these Demand for resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, abolition of SIR and for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take responsibility for it. Demand was included.
Rahul Gandhi also mentioned his alleged conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in the meeting. He said both the leaders had told him that they would remain in power and would be succeeded by Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi referred to this conversation while appealing to party leaders to have faith in him.
He said that the next strategy of the movement will be decided after the meeting of INDIA alliance. He also talked about proposing to organize a rally at Ramlila Maidan.
Accused of 'two types of match fixing'
Reiterating his old allegations regarding the election process, Rahul Gandhi said that he had raised the issue of alleged 'vote theft' in Haryana, Maharashtra and Karnataka. According to him, now the political atmosphere has changed regarding these allegations.
He alleged that two types of alleged 'match fixing' were being done in the elections. According to him, one case is related to EVMs, while the other is related to alleged deliberate mistakes in the voter list.
Questions also on the laws of 2019 and 2024
Rahul Gandhi also raised questions regarding the laws made in the years 2019 and 2024. He referred to the suspension of a large number of MPs during the making of the law related to the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner in the year 2023.
Appealing to Congress workers and leaders to continue the movement, he said that it is necessary to maintain pressure. Citing the example of the resignation of former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rahul Gandhi said that political circumstances can change by maintaining constant pressure.
Senior leaders were present in the CWC meeting
Senior party leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh attended the CWC meeting chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In the meeting, the future strategy of Congress on issues related to Election Commission, SIR and voter list was discussed.
After the meeting, Congress has hinted at the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and continuing its protest over SIR. At the same time, the Election Commission says that different opinions and comments within the Commission are a normal part of the institutional decision process and its orders are issued on legal basis.
