Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson and a well-known face of TV debates, Shehzad Poonawala, has created a stir in political circles by suddenly resigning from the primary membership of the party and all posts. After his decision, various types of discussions have started in political circles. Now Shehzad Poonawala himself has come forward and openly revealed the real reasons behind his resignation and has cited financial difficulties. 'Party spokesperson does not pay salary, landlord wants rent' During an interview, Shehzad Poonawala made it clear that the main reason behind his big decision was financial and personal circumstances. He bluntly said that political parties do not pay any salary to their spokespersons, due to which it often becomes very difficult for the first generation leaders to earn their living. Poonawala said openly, "I have to pay rent. My landlord will not give me a house for free because I am from BJP. He asks for rent on the 1st of every month."
He also clarified that although his decision was due to financial constraints, he is still fully committed to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ideological background of the party. He said that politics is not a job, but it is a matter of ideological attachment and affiliation. 'I do not fall in the category of 'leta' or 'son'' Poonawala, who left Congress and joined BJP in the year 2021, said that he does not belong to any political family or heritage. He said that in political circles, leaders often belong to either the 'leta' (benefit taker) category or the 'son' (heir to political families) category, but he does not fit into any of these categories. This is the reason why he had to think financially for the survival of his family and life. He also told that he was thinking about this topic since the year 2024 and had already informed the party leadership about his challenges. When he was asked about the possibilities of returning to the Congress party, he sarcastically put a strange condition. Poonawalla jokingly said that he can join Congress only on one condition when there is a major change in the party leadership and the previous decisions are discussed. Along with this, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that at present there is no better political party in the country than BJP, nor is there any other leader as strong as PM Modi.
