As per the data available till Saturday, 2 earthquakes were recorded in Bhutan and nearby areas in the last 24 hours, 2 in the last 7 days and 3 in the last 30 days. The earlier earthquake, which had a magnitude of 4.8, struck at a depth of 10 km near Bhutan. These statistics were collected by the researchers from the Regional Seismic Network. They said that Bhutan is geographically located in the earthquake prone area of the Himalayas. Since Bhutan is in a high seismic zone i.e. an earthquake prone area, the administration and disaster management department are monitoring the situation.
