Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that we have implemented a liquor ban in 19 religious towns and within the municipal and panchayat limits of the state. Liquor shops have been removed. The Madhya Pradesh government is conducting campaigns for de-addiction in every street, neighborhood, village, and intersection, educating people and taking strict action against criminals involved in the illegal drug trade.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing a program organized at the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) in Bhopal on Sunday to mark the launch of the nationwide campaign “Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India Resolution.” He said that while the number of roadside smoking shops in the state is gradually decreasing, other types of drug abuse are currently on the rise. Various products have arrived to corrupt the youth. Our government has established better coordination with neighboring states to crack down on the illegal drug trade and smuggling of drugs in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the nationwide campaign “Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India” from New Delhi. The launch event was broadcast live in all states. Governors from 24 states and Chief Ministers from 11 states participated virtually. Special events were organized at 28 locations across the country to mark the launch of the campaign. This campaign, run through the collaborative efforts of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, state and union territory governments, and the My Bharat Youth Organization, will continue for the next 100 weeks. Under the campaign, citizens, especially youth, will be motivated and committed to staying away from drugs. Special activities related to social service and public awareness will be organized every Sunday as part of the campaign.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav participated in the program organized by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department at MANIT Bhopal on the occasion of the launch of the nationwide campaign. Here he administered the oath to everyone to stay away from all kinds of drugs and live a drug-free life for a drug-free India and drug-free Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister listened to the Prime Minister’s address to the nation from MANIT itself. On this occasion, Sports Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Additional Chief Secretary Manu Srivastava, MANIT Director Prof. Manmohan Kapse, State Director of My Bharat Yuva Sangthan Mangalram Jakhar, Public Relations Commissioner Manish Singh, Collector Priyank Mishra along with all the faculties, professors of MANIT and a large number of students and youth friends were present.
Before launching the nationwide campaign, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, in his address, said that India is the world’s largest democratic and youthful country. Swami Vivekananda said a hundred years ago that the 21st century will belong to India through the power of its youth. Therefore, a drug de-addiction campaign is underway under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to build a powerful and all-round India. Today, we are all taking part in the launch of the “Drug-Free Youth for a Developed India” pledge campaign by Prime Minister Modi from the MANIT campus.
The Chief Minister congratulated the Madhya Pradesh Police for launching the “Drugs Distance is Necessary 2.0 Campaign.” He stated that the commitment to de-addiction is not the responsibility of just one department. De-addiction requires the active participation of the entire society, including the civilized and educated classes. He noted that after independence, some elite states in the country suffered due to the drug problem. To de-addiction in Madhya Pradesh, steps need to be taken with a firm resolve.
He said that the central government has pledged to achieve a drug-free India by 2029. We will win the war against this evil by freeing ourselves from all forms of drug abuse. The Chief Minister said that thanks to the unwavering resolve of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, our country has overcome the problem of Naxalism. Madhya Pradesh has already given its final salute to the Red Salute before the deadline of March 31, 2026. The bandit problem has also been completely eradicated from the land of Madhya Pradesh. This is the result of our commitment.
Stay away from all types of intoxicants
The Chief Minister said that a drug-free India is the first prerequisite for a developed India, and that drug-free youth are the biggest foundation of a developed India. We should distance ourselves from all forms of addiction in our daily lives, as they harm the body. The scriptures state that the human body can attain God through spiritual practice. Our bodies contain infinite energy. We must all utilize this power in the right direction and, by staying away from addiction, continue moving forward towards achieving the goal of a developed India @ 2047. Addiction negatively impacts our health, education, employment, and social respect. Addiction destroys families. The state government is extremely sensitive to crimes committed under the influence of addiction. Rehabilitation opportunities are also being provided to those addicted. Our bodies are a temple of pure thoughts. Youth should recognize their power, distance themselves from addiction, and inspire others to do the same.
The Chief Minister said that our history has been incredibly glorious for centuries. This is the culture where brave warriors like Lord Shri Ram, Shri Krishna, Gautam Buddha, and Mahavir Swami were born. Our culture inspires a spirit of self-restraint and “live and let live.” He said that India has always attracted the world for its knowledge and yoga. Therefore, we should all consider the entire world as one family and work for the well-being and welfare of all.
He said that through healthy youth, a capable society, and a prosperous Madhya Pradesh, we must fulfill the Amrit Kaal resolution of a developed India. For this, let us all pledge together that we will neither consume drugs ourselves nor allow anyone else to do so, and will spread awareness in society. Appealing to all the youth of the state, social organizations, teachers, principals, teachers, doctors, district and police administration, and all volunteers, he said that they should actively join this campaign and make it a mass movement.
