Love and War teaser delayed? Ranbir Kapoor film may unveil first look with Ramayana

Mumbai: Fans may have to wait longer for the first glimpse of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited romantic drama Love and War. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, was earlier expected to release its teaser on September 28, coinciding with Ranbir’s birthday. However, the teaser launch plan has reportedly been changed.

According to a report by Mid-Day, the September 28 release is no longer likely as the film’s final shooting schedule was completed only in the first week of September. With the shoot wrapping up recently, the makers are reportedly considering a theatrical debut for the teaser instead of releasing it directly online.

Love and War teaser may arrive with Ramayana

The latest plan reportedly involves attaching the Love and War teaser to Ramayana: Part 1, which is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026.

The strategy could give Bhansali’s film a much wider audience, particularly because Ranbir Kapoor plays the lead in both projects. A theatrical launch alongside Ramayana: Part 1 could also create significant buzz around Love and War ahead of its eventual release.

The reported change means Ranbir’s birthday may not bring the previously anticipated teaser. Instead, fans could get the first official glimpse of the film later in the year.

The decision to opt for a theatrical launch is reportedly being driven by Bhansali, who wants audiences to experience the film’s first look on the big screen.

Ranbir, Alia and Vicky unite for Bhansali film

Love and War has been among the most anticipated Hindi films since its announcement, with the combination of its star cast and Bhansali’s direction generating considerable interest.

The project marks another collaboration between Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt following their successful pairing in Brahmastra. Vicky Kaushal, meanwhile, is collaborating with Bhansali for the first time.

The film is expected to explore a romantic story against a larger backdrop, with the three leading actors sharing the screen in prominent roles. Bhansali’s involvement has further raised expectations around the film’s visual treatment, performances and music.

Teaser reportedly planned for November

If the reported schedule goes ahead, the Love and War teaser could arrive in November. The trailer is reportedly expected towards the last week of December.

The change in the teaser strategy could give the makers additional time to complete post-production work following the recently concluded shooting schedule. A theatrical launch would also allow the team to build anticipation through a major big-screen release rather than relying solely on a digital debut.

However, the makers have not yet officially announced the revised teaser date or confirmed whether it will be attached to Ramayana: Part 1.

Film set for January 2027 release

Love and War is currently scheduled to reach theatres in January 2027. With the film’s shoot now complete, attention is expected to shift towards post-production and promotional plans.

The reported November teaser and December trailer window would give the makers a relatively short but high-profile promotional campaign ahead of the theatrical release.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from the team. If the reported plan materialises, the first look of Love and War could make its theatrical debut alongside one of the biggest releases featuring Ranbir Kapoor in 2026.
