Maharashtra Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar said- I too have doubts about my husband’s plane crash.

Bureau Prayagraj. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sunetra Pawar has expressed serious doubt over the air crash of her husband and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in January. He said that everyone should get answers regarding this accident and if anyone is at fault then he should be given the strictest punishment. Sunetra Pawar gave this statement in her election rally in Baramati on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. The rally was organized for the Baramati by-election, voting for which is to be held on April 23.

The election campaign has ended after this rally there. During her speech, Sunetra Pawar said, “I have doubts about Ajit Pawar’s air crash. Everyone should get answers about this unfortunate incident. If anyone is guilty, he should be given the strictest punishment.” Ajit Pawar died in this air crash that took place in January 2026. Sunetra Pawar is now openly raising questions on this incident. However, reacting immediately to the demand made by the Mahayuti candidate, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured from the same forum that the government will not sit silent until the truth comes out.

This statement comes just before the Baramati by-election, where Sunetra Pawar is active in the election campaign. This statement of the NCP leader has intensified the discussion in political circles. Now Sunetra Pawar raising this issue is also being considered as an election issue. Because Ajit Pawar’s nephew Rohit Pawar is continuously raising this issue, Sunetra did not react at that time. But now she is speaking openly during elections.

Ajit Pawar’s nephew and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Rohit Pawar is urging the Maharashtra government to register an FIR in the plane crash case and has raised many questions on the incident. However, due to non-filing of FIR by Maharashtra government, Rohit Pawar went to Karnataka and lodged zero FIR in the January 28 plane crash, which Fadnavis termed as an illegal move.

Addressing the public meeting, Sunetra Pawar announced plans to set up a museum dedicated to the life and political journey of Ajit Pawar, which aims to inspire future generations. Fadnavis also strongly supported the deputy chief minister, saying he has the ability and determination to carry forward Ajit Pawar’s legacy and urged voters to give him a record victory on April 23 as a tribute to the late leader.

Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar’s cousin and Rashtriya Communist Party (SP) MP Supriya Sule also joined the election campaign in Baramati. In his speech he said that Baramati has always stood by the Pawar family and appealed to the voters to follow this tradition as Sunetra Pawar is contesting the by-election. Sule further said, “Our relationship is beyond politics. Therefore, people should support Sunetra Pawar to realize Ajit Dada’s dreams.” The then Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash in Baramati on January 28.
