Major accident in Thrissur, Kerala: 12 people died due to massive explosion in firecracker factory, PM Modi did not express grief

Thrissur. At least 12 people were killed and more than 40 injured in a massive fire that broke out at a firecracker storehouse in Mundathicode area of ​​Thrissur, Kerala on Tuesday afternoon. The condition of some of the injured is critical. According to police sources, the material for firecrackers meant for the Thrissur Pooram festival was stored in 10 to 15 small huts here. The fire broke out around 3:30 in the afternoon but the cause of the fire is not yet known.

According to local people, body parts were scattered in the area after the blast. Police and fire brigade personnel also took help of Robo Fire Brigade equipment in rescue operations. The explosion was so powerful that even after two hours, large balls of fire were seen rising in the area, due to which the police and fire brigade personnel had to struggle a lot to reach the spot. There is also a possibility that Mundathicode Satheesan, who holds the license to store firecrackers here, has also fallen prey to this horrific fire.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed that all necessary treatment facilities should be made available without any delay. He said burn victims should receive special treatment and, if required, services of specialist doctors from hospitals outside the state would be arranged. Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives in this accident, the Chief Minister has also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. A special monitoring system has been set up to keep a close eye on the situation and provide quick response.

PM Modi expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the accident

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief over the loss of life and property due to an explosion in a firecracker manufacturing unit in Thrissur, Kerala and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

“The Prime Minister has announced that the next of kin of each deceased will be given an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on social media platform ‘X’. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.” At least eight people were killed and several others sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Mundathicode.

Earlier, Modi had said in a post on ‘X’, “Deeply saddened to hear about the loss of life and property in an accident at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Thrissur, Kerala. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.
