Big decision taken after England tour

According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, Ryan Ten Doeschate had informed BCCI about his resignation during the England tour. India had to face defeat in both T20 and ODI series on this tour. After this the news of his leaving the team came out. Along with the announcement of the team for the Sri Lanka tour, the confirmation of his resignation made a big change in the support staff of the Indian team.

Ten Doeschate was trusted by Gautam Gambhir

Former Netherlands captain Ryan ten Doeschate became a part of the support staff with Gautam Gambhir becoming the head coach of the Indian team in July 2024. Old pair will be seen again in KKR

Ten Doeschate will now join the coaching staff of Kolkata Knight Riders. There she will once again be paired with Abhishek Nair. Both have previously worked together in KKR and later also worked together in the support staff of Team India for some time. Ten Doeschate’s relationship with KKR is very old. As a player, he played an important role in helping the team win the IPL title in 2012 and 2014. After this, in 2022, he joined the franchise as the fielding coach and remained a part of the coaching staff till 2024. During this time, Gautam Gambhir was the mentor of the team and KKR won another IPL title.

Successful tenure with Team India

Ryan Ten Doeschate’s tenure with the Indian team was filled with many important achievements. India won the 2025 Asia Cup and successfully defended the 2026 T20 World Cup, lifting the trophy for the second consecutive time. However, the team’s performance in Test cricket was not as expected. India had to lose the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the Australia tour. After this, New Zealand made a clean sweep of 3-0 at home, while South Africa also defeated India 2-0. Ten Doeschate’s resignation amid continued poor Test performance has posed a new challenge to the team management.
