This puri is prepared from boiled potatoes and water chestnut flour. It can be served with fasting vegetables, curd or kheer. Let us know the easy way to make it.
Ingredients to make Aloo Puri
- Water chestnut flour – 3 to 4 cups
- Boiled potatoes- 3
- Green chilli – 1 finely chopped
- Green coriander – a little
- Cumin – half teaspoon
- Celery- half teaspoon
- Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
- Rock salt- as per taste
- Oil or ghee used in fasting – for frying
Prepare potato puri like this
Prepare the dough:
First of all, mash or grate the boiled potatoes thoroughly. Now take water chestnut flour in a big vessel and add potatoes to it.
Mix spices:
Add green chilli, green coriander, cumin, celery, red chilli powder and rock salt to the flour. Adding cumin and celery seeds by lightly crushing them between the palms gives good taste and aroma.
Knead the dough:
Add some oil to this mixture and knead the dough by adding water as per requirement. Keep in mind that the dough should not be too loose.
Bellen Puris:
Now make small balls of the dough. Roll them lightly and give them the shape of a puri. Be careful while rolling the puri due to water chestnut flour as it does not bind as easily as normal wheat flour.
Fry in hot oil:
Heat oil in a pan. After the oil is hot, add the puris one by one and fry them well from both the sides. When the puris become light golden and crisp, take them out.
With what to eat Aloo Puri?
During the fast, you can eat these puris with curd, fast potato curry, pumpkin curry or kheer. These can also be served with hot tea or any fasting-friendly beverage. After the fast of Sawan Shivratri, this easy recipe can be a good option for both taste and filling.
