During this time, his nephew and party General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, senior TMC leader Madan Mitra, MP Kalyan Banerjee were also with him. Along with Banerjee, veteran party leaders Firhad Hakim, Derek O’Brien and Dola Sen were also seen, but most of the new faces who recently won assembly seats on TMC tickets were missing on the occasion. In this way, Mamata, who is fighting a battle with BJP on the political front, has faced disappointment from her own MLAs.

However, when Mamata Banerjee reached the protest site at Y-Channel in Esplanade, Kolkata Police refused to allow her to stage the protest and rejected TMC’s appeal for permission to hold the protest on nearby Rani Rashmoni Road. This created a tense situation at the protest site and a heated clash was witnessed between the police and the protesters.

Rigging in counting of votes on 177 seats out of 294

Addressing the crowd through a megaphone, Banerjee said that the BJP rigged the counting of votes on 177 out of 294 seats to win the Bengal Assembly elections.
