Maruti has stopped production of this car, what happened that such a big decision had to be taken…
New Delhi. The country’s largest car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki is going to stop the production of this hatchback which has been present in the market for the last 9 years and introduce a new micro SUV. We are talking about Maruti Suzuki Ignis, which has created its own fanbase in the last 9 years.
It is noteworthy that India’s largest car manufacturing company sells its cars through two main dealerships – Arena and Nexa. The Ignis was part of the Nexa dealership, and although it is still available for booking on the website, the news of the company discontinuing its production may not be completely wrong.
Reason for stopping production of Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Crossover design has helped many products gain immense popularity in the Indian market. However, this may not have happened in the case of Ignis. Ignis, launched in 2017, failed to attract the attention of customers. Around 51,176 units of the Ignis were sold in 2022, which was the highest sales figure for this hatchback.
However, Swift and other similarly priced cars of the company gained much more popularity and their sales were also quite good. Apart from this, Ignis did not receive any major updates in its 9-year journey, due to which its sales may have declined significantly.
Maruti Suzuki Ignis: What is special?
Even though Maruti Suzuki Ignis may not have been liked very much by the customers, there are many things in it that make it special. First of all, Maruti Suzuki Ignis is the cheapest car of Nexa. Its price ranges between Rs 5.35 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom). The most special thing about Ignis was its engine. The Ignis is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series petrol engine, which generates 83 hp power.
