Oben Rorr EVO vs Matter Aera e-bikes: Price, range & more compared

India’s electric motorcycle space is finally evolving and the options are increasing by the day. Bengaluru-based EV startup Oben Electric has launched a new product today: the Rorr Evo. This new electric motorcycle goes against the Matter Aera 5000. Here’s a quick look at how these models stack up against each other.

Starting with performance, the Oben Rorr Evo uses a 9 kW motor paired with a 3.4 kWh battery and delivers a claimed top speed of 110 kmph. It can sprint from 0 to 40 kmph in around 3 seconds. The Matter Aera 5000, on the other hand, gets 11.5 kW of peak power and a 0–40 kmph time of 2.8 seconds. Its top speed stands at 105 kmph. The biggest difference here is the riding experience: the Aera gets a 4-speed manual gearbox.When it comes to range and battery, the Rorr Evo offers a claimed 180 km IDC range. It houses a 3.4 kWh LFP battery pack. The Matter Aera 5000 comes with a larger 5 kWh battery but delivers a slightly lower claimed range of 172 km.

Charging is another important factor, and here both motorcycles offer fast-charging capabilities. The Rorr Evo can charge from 0 to 80 percent in just 90 minutes. The Aera 5000 takes about 5 hours for a standard charge but can achieve 0–80 percent in a similar time using a fast charger.

In terms of hardware, the Matter Aera 5000 uses telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks and gets liquid cooling for both the motor and battery. Braking duties are handled by a 270 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc along with ABS. The Rorr Evo, meanwhile, uses telescopic front suspension and a rear monoshock, along with disc brakes at both ends. It also features an aluminium battery casing and a chain drive setup.

Features and technology are strong on both motorcycles. The Rorr Evo comes with a 5-inch TFT display, navigation, geo-fencing, theft protection and a unique SmartiQ AI ride mode that adapts power delivery based on riding style. It also offers features like fall detection with emergency alerts and a segment-first 10 litres of storage. The Matter Aera 5000, on the other hand, gets a larger 7-inch touchscreen display with 4G connectivity, navigation, OTA updates and a host of connected features through its app. It also includes keyless operation, gear position indicator and shift assist.

Oben Rorr EVO vs Matter AERA 5000: Pricing

The Oben Rorr Evo has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 99,999, ex-showroom, which will later increase to Rs 1.25 lakh. In comparison, the Matter Aera 5000 is priced at Rs 1.81 lakh, ex-showroom.
