Maruti XL6 Facelift Revealed Internationally As Latest Suzuki XL7

The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is about to get a facelift in India. The Suzuki XL7 sold in ASEAN countries like Thailand and Indonesia is expected to get a facelift in the near future. We can now confirm that the new model will be brought to India as the facelifted XL6.

Suzuki hasn’t revealed the new XL7 officially yet. It is expected to debut at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2026, on July 29th.

The XL7 is already on sale in ASEAN markets and this will be a facelift. It will bring significant visual upgrades and feature additions to the SUV. With days left for its official reveal, the automaker has now released an official image of the XL7. Suzuki’s official websites, however, continue to list the older model.

Maruti Suzuki first launched the XL6 in August 2019. It is a six-seater, with captain chairs in the middle row. The XL7 never came to India. It is essentially a seven-seater with a bench seat in the second row. The main difference between the two is in the seating configuration.

Now,it looks like Maruti Suzuki will bring the new XL7 as the replacement for the ageing XL6. There will be several changes in the exterior styling. It will get a new Chrome grille with Black inserts.

The outgoing model has a split-type grille design. There is a large upper grille and a smaller lower section. The facelift will replace this setup with a large, single unit. It seamlessly blends with the front bumper. Even the Chrome elements have been redesigned. On some variants, these will be blacked out. Not everyone may like this design treatment.

You will also get new, sharper headlights, a new front bumper and redesigned fog lamp inserts. Overall, the front fascia will have a fresh design. The new XL6 will also come with new wheels and blacked-out tail lamps.

Inside, the changes will be evolutionary. The overall design and layout are likely to remain close to those of the current XL7. The feature list will, however, be revised. The new XL7 is expected to get front seat ventilation, an improved 360-degree camera, head up display, and a bigger infotainment screen. These features are now becoming common in Maruti Suzuki models. Logically, the upcoming XL6 facelift should also get them. Sadly, the leaked images do not show any bit of the car’s interior.

As mentioned above, the second-row seating is what differentiates the XL6 from the XL7. Offering both six and seven-seater options on the same vehicle would be a good option. Many three-row SUVs already use this formula. The actual direction that Maruti Suzuki would take here remains to be seen.

The current XL6 is powered by the time-proven 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes around 103bhp and 136Nm. Two transmission options are offered- five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic. The company is also offering a CNG version of the vehicle, with the same engine as the base. These specifications are likely to be carried forward to the new model. No change is expected on this front.

However, we may see the inclusion of an underbody CNG tank on the CNG version. This is something that we first saw on the Victoris. The facelifted Brezza, scheduled to launch on July 23rd, is also expected to get this. Transitioning to an underbody CNG tank will liberate a large amount of usable boot space.

When launched, the facelifted XL6 (XL7) will compete with models like the Kia Carens Clavis. The Clavis, as you know, is a feature-loaded model and is slightly bigger than the XL6. Maruti Suzuki hasn’t announced a launch window for this product. It is, however, safe to expect it to be out around the festive season. The outgoing XL6 is priced in the Rs 11.52 lakh- Rs 14.48 lakh bracket. The facelift could carry a slight premium.
