A new era of X-Men is coming to the MCU, with D23 offering fans their first major look at Marvel’s next generation of mutants and the stars who will bring them to life.
Sadie Sink’s casting as Jean Grey was no longer a secret following her reveal in Spider-Man: Brand New Daybut Marvel had kept the identities of the other X-Men members firmly under wraps.
Before Marvel took the stage at D23, Deadline had already reported two major additions to the X-Men lineup: Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost.
Both were officially announced at the event.
The X-Men lineup came into sharper focus at D23, where Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige confirmed the Stranger Things star Sadie, Heartstopper alum Kit and The Babysitter actress Samara in their respective roles.
He also unveiled Maya Boyd as Storm, Obsession star Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Christopher Abbott as Professor X, while introducing director Jake Schreier, who will helm the upcoming X-Men film.
Kevin saved one more major casting reveal for D23, announcing Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, the villain of Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film. Driver joined the presentation remotely via video from a cavernous film studio rather than appearing in Anaheim.
“Kevin and I have been talking for years about me joining the MCU,” the 42 year-old actor shared. “Now I feel like we’ve found the perfect film, at the perfect film, with characters I care deeply about.”
Marvel’s new X-Men cast is stepping into roles with a long Hollywood history, following performances from stars such as Famke Janssen, Sophie Turner, James Marsden, Tye Sheridan and January Jones.
