Anti-reservation protests : The country's politics has started heating up due to the anti-reservation protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The protesters demand that priority should be given to economic basis rather than caste in determining eligibility for government assistance and reservation. However, the Modi government has already implemented 10 percent reservation for economically weaker sections (EWS). Now regarding this protest, BSP supremo Mayawati said that these demands are not at all appropriate and in the national interest.

BSP supremo Mayawati wrote in her X post on Sunday, 'SC, ST in the Constitution at Jantar Mantar of Delhi. And O.B.C. This new demand raised by some people who have recently gathered against the reservation given to the society to implement reservation on economic basis is not at all appropriate and in the interest of the country. They should not do any such work regarding reservation which would harm the constitutional tasks of creating an egalitarian society, developed and respectable country. Anyway, SC and ST have been victims of inhumanity of casteism in the country for centuries. And regarding the reservation system made in the Constitution for the people of OBC community, the most revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar had said that 'the abandonment of casteism is the greatest patriotism'. Therefore, it would be appropriate if people show more true patriotism.
Former UP CM Mayawati said, '3. As far as reservation on economic basis is concerned, a lot of government money is spent every year by the Central and State Governments on not just one but many poverty alleviation programs, but due to corruption etc., if the people of the country do not get the right benefits of it, then it is a direct fault of the government system. Apart from this, the new system of reservation on economic basis is also implemented in the country, the poor families of the upper caste society are not getting the proper benefits of which, rather there is more deception in it.
Appealing to the central and state governments, Mayawati said, 'In fact, it is this corrupt and casteist government system in particular that has never allowed the constitutional constructive provision of reservation to be properly implemented on the ground, due to which the people of SC, ST and OBC communities, even after such a long time of independence, continue to suffer the sting of poverty, casteist hatred, exploitation, atrocities and the poison of casteism every day at every level. Therefore, it will be in the larger country and public interest if all governments do not provide shelter and protection to anti-reservation elements at all. There is also an appeal to the people not to indulge in cheap politics on an important and sensitive issue like reservation, nor to allow it to happen.

Taking aim at the Congress in his post, he wrote, 'However, on the same day, senior Congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi sat on a dharna for several hours outside the Parliament police station to register an FIR in the case of a victim, to which the party has no objection. But next to him, a protest was also going on at Jantar Mantar to end the caste-based reservation for Dalits and exploited people, he and none of his Congress colleagues even went there to convince them, due to which his anti-reservation mentality towards these classes is still clearly visible.
