The internet has been calling for Mckenna Grace to swing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Gwen Stacy in a live-action Spider-Man movie. The actress has finally shared her thoughts on joining the franchise as the popular Marvel character.
During a red-carpet interview with content creator Sami Haidary, Grace was asked whether she would consider playing Gwen Stacy. She initially sounded unsure about fan casting before making her interest clear. She said, “Oh my god, I feel like whenever I get fan-cast for things, it’s not going to happen…”
When Haidary reassured her, Grace enthusiastically added, “No, oh my gosh, of course! That’d be like a dream, so…” The interviewer then told her she would be perfect for the role, prompting Grace to respond with “Thanks…”
While Marvel Studios has not officially announced plans to introduce Gwen Stacy into Spider-Man’s ongoing storyline, Grace already has a connection to the franchise. She has previously portrayed a young Carol Danvers in 2019’s Captain Marvel.
Why Gwen Stacy remains a major topic in Spider-Man casting discussions
Gwen Stacy remains a popular character because her story connects to Peter Parker’s personal life and Marvel’s wider multiverse. In the original comics, she is one of Peter’s most significant relationships. Different adaptations have also explored versions of Gwen with their own stories and abilities.
One popular version is Spider-Gwen, also known as Ghost-Spider, from an alternate universe. In that story, Gwen receives spider powers instead of Peter Parker. She also became a major character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, with Hailee Steinfeld voicing the character in both films.
On the live-action front, Emma Stone delivered a fan-favorite performance as Gwen opposite Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, setting a high benchmark for future portrayals.
The character’s history across comics and films keeps casting discussions active whenever a new Spider-Man project emerges. Grace is among the actresses fans have suggested for the role, alongside Emma Myers and Emily Rudd. However, these names remain fan suggestions, with no official announcement confirming who might play Gwen in a future MCU film.
