MEA said, ’14 Indians died in West Asia conflict’… Two missing, 7 Indian ships present in Persian Gulf
Delhi. So far, 14 Indian citizens have died during the ongoing conflict between America and Iran in West Asia, while two Indian citizens are still missing. The Foreign Ministry gave this information on Friday. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a media briefing that the ministry does not have detailed data available on the exact number of Indian sailors killed in the conflict, but so far a total of 14 Indian citizens are known to have been killed and two are missing.
Seven Indian flag ships are present in the Persian Gulf
The Ministry of External Affairs said that despite the tense situation, seven Indian-flagged ships are still present in the Persian Gulf. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that considering the security situation in the region, the Government of India is continuously monitoring the situation and the safety of Indian citizens and sailors is being given top priority.
Advisory issued regarding Strait of Hormuz
Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has issued an advisory regarding the safety of Indian sailors. Under this advisory, instructions have been given to stop the deployment of Indian sailors on ships going to sensitive areas, especially the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the situation in West Asia remains volatile and a large number of Indian sailors work in the region. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the government to ensure their safety.
Government keeps an eye on the security of Indians
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the Government of India is continuously monitoring the situation of Indian citizens living in West Asia. Coordination is being done with concerned agencies for the protection and assistance of Indians present in the conflict affected areas. International shipping activities have also been affected due to increasing tensions in the Persian Gulf and surrounding maritime areas. In view of the situation, India has appealed for vigilance for its citizens and maritime personnel.
