Mecca Defense Alliance: Now the Houthis are no longer in trouble! Turkish and Pakistani troops entered the field to protect Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia Pakistan Turkey Army: Pakistan and Turkey on Monday (October 05, 2026) agreed to deploy troops in Saudi Arabia under the Mecca Defense Alliance. This decision has been taken amid continuous attacks on Saudi Arabia by Yemen's Houthi rebel groups. This decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of Mecca Defense Alliance held in Riyadh.

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud posted on the social media platform The Committee agreed to implement collective preventive measures across the Alliance in response to the attacks and those responsible for them.

What was said in the joint statement?

According to a joint statement, the member states strongly condemned the rebel group's alleged attempt to target the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and the ongoing attacks targeting cities, civilian facilities and economic establishments in Saudi Arabia. The statement further said that the member countries reaffirmed that the security of each member country is an integral part of the collective security of the three countries.

Türkiye and Pakistan's army will protect Saudi Arabia

Additionally, the joint statement also said that under the agreement, Saudi Arabia's allies, Turkey and Pakistan, will deploy troops to Saudi Arabia to confront and deal with 'threats'. It was further said that the committee decided to move immediately towards practical implementation of the collective defense commitments. It was also decided to take necessary steps to provide the agreed forces and military capabilities and rapidly deploy them in Saudi Arabia. All this will be done in accordance with the agreed arrangements and national laws of the member states, so as to enhance preparedness, military integration and collective ability to face and deal with threats.

All three countries reiterated this

In the statement, the three countries reiterated their complete rejection of any attack or threat against the security of Saudi Arabia and its territories. The committee also decided to appoint retired Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Numan Mahmood as its first Secretary-General for a tenure of three years.

Why did the meeting of the three countries take place?

This meeting took place amid continuous attacks by the Houthi rebel group targeting Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, according to an AFP report, the development comes after several weeks of Houthi attacks, as Riyadh and its allies in the Yemen government have launched a retaliatory action against the group. The report also says that since the resumption of civil war in Yemen, Houthis have been targeting neighboring country Saudi Arabia.
