G7 Summit Controversy: A new dispute has emerged between US President Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Trump claimed in a recent interview that Meloni had requested to be photographed with him during the G7 summit. After his statement, the discussion has intensified in political circles.
In a phone interview given to an Italian media outlet, Trump said that Meloni was very eager to be photographed with him and that he himself had asked for it. Trump also said that he does not usually get photographed, but he did so in view of Meloni’s wish.

Meloni rejected Trump’s claim
Following Trump’s statement, Giorgia Meloni responded to his comments by sharing a video on social media platform X. He called Trump’s claims “complete fabrications” Stating that he was surprised at such a statement. Meloni said this is not the first time the US President has made derogatory comments about the leaders of its allies. He raised the question why this kind of attitude is adopted towards colleagues.
‘Italy never begs in front of anyone’
In his statement, Meloni said that Italy and he himself do not believe in bowing down or pleading before anyone. He also said that he is saddened that the West is more critical of the leaders of its allies than its adversaries.
