Meryl Streep shares surprising reason behind clash with Goldie Hawn
Meryl Streep has opened up about why she once had a fallout with her Death Becomes Her co-star Goldie Hawn.
Speaking in a recent interview with Vanity Fairthe 76-year-old actress revealed that the “beef” between the two was sparked by on-set differences, particularly Hawn’s lack of punctuality.
“Goldie, she was always late to set,” Streep said, adding, “But she was so adorable. And I’m always on time, you know, and annoying. But she’s late, and she had a red convertible, I remember, and she’d drive herself to set. So that was probably the problem.”
She continued, “She’d drive herself to set. She had her hair all…’Oh gosh, sorry!’ And everybody thought, ‘Oh, she’s so cute.’ Yeah. So I had a beef with her.”
Despite the minor friction, the Oh mama! star also reflected on the fond memories she shared with Hawn.
“When we get to the scene and we just do the scene all silly and fabulous, me with Goldie, we just laughed,” she reminisced.

Streep noted, “We just had a lot of fun. And she’s the best laugher in America, really. She laughs like, ‘Ahahaha!’ And then they have to stop shooting. But that part was fun.”
Toward the end, the Little Women star made it clear there was no real feud, noting that she and Goldie Hawn share a special bond.
