JSW MG Motor India will launch the first product based on its new ADAPT platform on August 26, 2026. It will be an electric SUV and will reportedly be called the Hector Tomahawk. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed the e-SUV’s interior in an official teaser. The 45-second video gives us a quick look at the cabin, including its colours and some of the features.
The Hector Tomahawk will be a seven-seater electric SUV. The teaser shows the seven-seater configuration with a three-seat middle row. Two seats can be seen at the extreme rear. The cabin seems to have a Beige colour theme. This seems to be a smart choice of colour for the Indian market for two reasons. One, it doesn’t attract as much heat as an all-Black would do. Two, it makes the cabin look pleasant and airy. Also, there is a clear sense of minimalism in design. The steering wheel is likely to be a two-spoke unit.
The image also shows some of the features that the electric SUV would come with. It will have a large central touchscreen, which can be faintly seen in the image. It will also have a fully digital instrument cluster- likely to be a 8.8-inch unit. Furthermore, the Tomahawk will come with a sunroof, most likely a large, panoramic unit.
The video teaser shows glimpses of the Tomahawk’s exterior design- some body panels, design of the LED DRLs and tail lamps, roof rails, shark-fin antenna, a closed-off grille section, regular pull-type door handles, alloy wheels, a relatively flat roof and more.
The e-SUV’s silhouette remains almost the same as that of the model sold in overseas markets. There will be Chrome garnish along the window line. Towards the end of the video, we also see the SUV accelerate. The brisk acceleration shows that this is an EV with a strong powertrain.
The Tomahawk EV will essentially be based on the Wuling Eksion sold in markets like Indonesia. But, compared to the same, it will have different, more interesting design detailing. Quick glimpses of some of these can be seen in the video. Details of course, remain under wraps for now.
The Hector Tomahawk will be the first model to be based on MG’s new-age ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform. This versatile platform is capable of supporting various electrified powertrains- strong hybrids, range-extender hybrids, plug-in hybrids and even pure EVs. The Tomahawk seems to be the pure EV version.
The company hasn’t yet commented on the powertrain details of the Tomahawk. In international markets, it is offered with a 69.2 kWh battery pack mated to a front-mounted electric motor. That configuration generates around 201bhp and 310Nm. That SUV has a top speed of 160 kph.
Rumours suggest that MG may offer a slightly larger battery pack in India. The claimed range could be well above 500km (even the Indonesia spec claims 530 km!). When launched, the Hector Tomahawk will compete with the Mahindra XEV 9S. The 9S is also a three-row electric SUV with a comparable battery size.
We also know that this electric SUV will offer a lot of features. In addition to the ones mentioned above, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger for smartphones, cruise control, level 2 ADAS, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera and more are expected. Details on this front are expected to surface closer to launch.
The biggest highlight of the ADAPT platform is its flexibility and versatile nature. It can be used to accommodate various hybrid powertrains without requiring significant modifications. In this case, the EV will come first and will be followed soon by a plug-in hybrid version (PHEV).
It will pair a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor. On the Starlight 560, which the India-spec will be based on, this configuration generates a combined output of 197 hp and 230 Nm. That vehicle does the 0-100 kph sprint in just 9.7 seconds. The electric-only range is around 125km. It seems safe to expect similar numbers on the India-spec as well.
