Singer Mika Singh has expressed his opinion about Pakistan and its people. He raised the question that why do people think differently about the Muslims of Pakistan, whereas people view the Muslims of Dubai in a positive light. In an interview given to Times Now, Mika said that he has not understood this till date. Recalling his experiences in Pakistan, he also mentioned the love and respect he received from the people there.
Mika Singh said that Pakistan or the people there are not bad. They do not understand why there is a negative attitude towards the Muslims of Pakistan in India, whereas people like the Muslims of Dubai. Mika said that he did not understand this difference till date.
Recalling his 2019 visit to Pakistan, the singer also mentioned the treatment he received from the people there. He told that many Muslims in Pakistan had helped in the maintenance and cleaning of Sikh religious places. Mika said that these people are his brothers and they served in Gurudwaras.
Mika has an emotional relationship with Gurudwaras in Pakistan.
Mika told that Pakistan is not just a country for him, but there are many important religious places of Sikhism there. He mentioned Nankana Sahib and Panja Sahib. He says that when he gets an invitation to perform in Pakistan, the first thought that comes to his mind is that through this he can reach the Gurudwaras present there.
Mika also said that he has no problem with Pakistani singers coming to India and performing here. According to him, Bollywood has welcomed Pakistani artists. He also said that if an artiste goes to Pakistan for a private event, performs and comes back, it should be looked at from a different perspective.
In the interview, the singer was asked about his opinion about Pakistan, especially after discussing Diljit Dosanjh and his work with Pakistani artists. Mika said that he has no problem with Pakistani singers performing in India. He also defended the artists who go to Pakistan to perform. His argument was that he should not be criticized for doing so.
There was a ban on going to Pakistan in 2019
Mika Singh’s association with Pakistan is not new. On 8 August 2019, she performed at a pre-wedding function in Karachi. After the video of this performance surfaced, he was criticized a lot in India. At that time, relations between India and Pakistan were tense and due to this, All India Cine Workers Association and Federation of Western India Cine Employees had announced the boycott of Mika.
Mika later apologized and said that this program was pre-planned. On August 21, 2019, he apologized in the presence of FWICE officials, after which the ban was lifted. Now once again his statement regarding Pakistan has sparked debate on India-Pakistan relations, the visits of artists and the perceptions made about the people of both the countries.
