Milk Price Hike: Co-operative milk producers' organizations in Karnataka have requested the state government to increase the purchase and retail price of Nandini milk by Rs 8-10 per litre, citing rising production costs and production costs. D. K. Suresh, president of Bangalore Urban, Rural and Ramnagar District Co-operative Milk Producers Sangh Limited, said the cost of dairy farming has increased significantly due to increased expenditure on animal feed, green fodder, animal medicines and other maintenance requirements. Suresh said, “Dairy farmers are facing difficulties due to the current drought which has resulted in crop losses and a major decline in farmers' income and reduced availability of fodder.”

D. K. Suresh said that while cooperative societies and private dairies in many states have been increasing the prices of milk and milk products, the unions in Karnataka have not increased the price of milk for the last one-and-a-half years keeping in mind the interests of consumers.
BMPA has increased the price of milk by Rs 9 from September 1. The Bombay Milk Producers Association (BMPA) has increased the wholesale price of milk from dairies and farms in Mumbai by Rs 9 per liter with effect from September 1, 2026. After this price hike, the price of milk in Mumbai has increased from Rs 93 to Rs 102 per litre. Explaining the reason behind the milk price hike, the BMPA said the move was taken to offset the rising cost of animal feed and maintenance.
