The famous web series 'Mirzapur', which created history in the world of OTT, has now established its unprecedented dominance on the big screen as well. 'Mirzapur: The Movie', which was released in theatres, has broken all the old earning records at the box office as soon as it was released. Kaleen Bhaiya's majestic thump, Guddu Pandit's fearless bloody revenge and above all the audience's favorite Munna Bhaiya's immortal 'Bhaukaal' have transformed theaters into stadiums. According to film trade analysts, the film has crossed the magical figure of Rs 100 crore gross collection including domestic and foreign markets in its first weekend i.e. within just three days.
Trade experts believe that after a long time such frenzy is being seen among the audience regarding any franchise. After taking a bumper opening on Friday, boards of 'Housefull' were seen hanging from multiplexes to single screen theaters on Saturday and Sunday. The advance booking of the film was full several days in advance in the North India belts, especially Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The situation is such that in view of the huge demand from the audience, special shows have to be run late at night and early in the morning in many cities.
The biggest USP of 'Mirzapur: The Movie' and the main reason for the huge crowd of viewers is the explosive comeback of 'Munna Tripathi' i.e. Divyendu Sharma on the big screen. The viewers who were disappointed by the absence of Munna Bhaiya in the third season of the web series, are thrilled to see their favorite character alive again in the theatres. It can be clearly seen in the video clips coming from inside the theaters that as soon as Munna Bhaiya enters the screen, the entire hall echoes with whistles, applause and echoes of his famous dialogues.
The cleverness and strength with which the director has woven the character of Munna Bhaiya into the fabric of the story has won the hearts of the audience. His dialogues with Pankaj Tripathi aka Akhandanand Tripathi (Kaalin Bhaiya) and his direct confrontation with Ali Fazal aka Guddu Bhaiya have created the thrill on screen that the audience had been waiting for for many years. This bet of the producers has proved to be absolutely correct and the word of mouth publicity of the film is taking it towards a huge blockbuster.
If Munna Bhaiya is setting the stage with his swag and dialogues, then Ali Fazal in the character of Guddu Pandit has taken the fire of cruelty and revenge to a new level. After coming on the big canvas, the action of the film looks grander, raw and intense than ever before. The bloody attitude of Guddu Pandit holding a gun in his hand has forced thriller lovers to sit tight.
In the film, the conflict between Kaleen Bhaiya's calm but dangerous style and Guddu Bhaiya's uncontrolled anger is worth watching. Apart from this, the characters of Shweta Tripathi (Golu Gupta) and Rasika Dugal (Beena Tripathi) have also added suspense and drama to the story. The background music (BGM) and cinematography of the film have made the atmosphere of dusty streets and katte-tamanche of Mirzapur very alive and impressive on the big screen, forcing the audience to remain glued to the seats.
According to trade tracker reports, 'Mirzapur: The Movie' surprised everyone with a historic opening of around Rs 32 crore on the very first day on Friday. Saturday took full advantage of positive mouth publicity and weekend holiday, which led to a jump in the collections and the film earned a whopping Rs 36 crore. The craze of the film remained at its peak on Sunday and as per the initial trends, the film did excellent business between Rs 38 to 40 crore on the third day.
With this, the three-day net collection of the film in India reached around Rs 106 crore, while the worldwide gross collection has been recorded around Rs 130 crore. This has become the biggest and historic opening weekend record ever for any OTT-to-Cinema Adaptation. Overseas markets—like America, Britain, Australia and the Gulf countries—are also witnessing tremendous enthusiasm for the film among the Indian diaspora.
After breaking the Rs 100 crore barrier on the opening weekend, now the eyes of trade pundits are fixed on Monday's test i.e. the first working day. If the film maintains its strong hold even on weekdays and the decline remains less than 40 percent, then the film will easily join the Rs 300 crore club. Mirzapur is also going to get the direct benefit of no big Bollywood or Pan-India film releasing at the box office till coming Friday.
Film analysts believe that if this pace continues, 'Mirzapur: The Movie' can top the list of highest-grossing Indian films of the year 2026. Kaalin Bhaiya's Gaddi, Munna Bhaiya's Bhaukaal and Guddu Pandit's bloodshed have together created such a storm at the box office that no other film seems to be able to stop it at the moment.
