Monsoon session of Parliament from July 20, 19 meetings scheduled in 4 weeks –

Knews Desk- The monsoon session of Parliament is likely to begin from July 20 and may continue till around August 13. During this period, 19 meetings are proposed in about four weeks. There is expected to be vigorous debate on many important bills and political issues in the session.

The government can introduce many important bills in this session, among which some constitutional amendment bills are prominent. These may include provisions related to women’s reservation, delimitation and proposals related to increasing the seats of Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies. Apart from this, the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill may also be under discussion, which includes a provision to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Minister or ministers from the post if they remain in jail for more than 30 days. The government may also push for the “One Country One Election” bill.

According to sources, proposals related to FCRA amendment, education reform bill, anti-doping bill, corporate law, securities market code and increasing the number of judges may also be on the agenda.

At the same time, the opposition is preparing to corner the government on issues like drought and flood situation in some places in the country during monsoon, inflation, unemployment, prices of petrol and diesel, NEET paper leak and Ram temple offering controversy. Apart from this, political issues like SIR (Voter List Revision) and split in regional parties can also increase the heat in Parliament.

Politically, this session is being considered very important, because while the ruling party will try to carry forward its legislative agenda, the opposition is planning a strategy to attack the government on many fronts.
