MP Electricity Supply: Electricity crisis in Madhya Pradesh, darkness in villages, what is the government planning now?

MP Electricity Supply: Lack of electricity in Madhya Pradesh has increased the problems of rural areas. Farmers are troubled by irregular supply of electricity during the crucial time of farming. There are complaints of not getting electricity for hours in many villages, due to which the irrigation of fields is being affected. Amidst the continuous complaints, the state government has decided to purchase electricity from Punjab to meet the additional electricity requirement. Now the question is, why did such a situation arise in Madhya Pradesh, which claims to be self-sufficient in electricity?

increased demand for electricity

Madhya Pradesh has been counted among the power surplus states for a long time. In such a situation, the news of power cuts in villages has raised questions on the system. According to the information, electricity consumption has increased rapidly in the state but the production and available supply could not increase as per the demand. Its biggest impact is being seen in rural areas, where farmers are not getting enough electricity for irrigation.

Less rain and weather also the reason

A retired officer of the electricity department said in an interview that the main reason for the current crisis is the sudden increase in demand. Due to less rain, the need for electricity increased in many areas. At the same time, production from solar and wind energy also did not happen as per expectations. In such a situation, the gap between demand and available electricity increased. The official estimates that the power supply situation may improve in the next seven to ten days. According to him, in case of power shortage, cuts are made on rotation basis. In this system, rural areas are generally affected first. Whereas big cities are affected later.

Congress raised questions

State Congress President Jitu Patwari has targeted the state government regarding the power crisis. He claimed that many villages are not getting electricity for a long time. Patwari raised the question that when Madhya Pradesh supplies electricity to other states and Delhi Metro, then why are people facing problems in their own villages. He also raised questions on the working style of the Electricity Minister and demanded the government to improve the situation.
