The increasingly unruly criminals in Bihar have once again threatened law and order, targeting a senior administrative officer. Executive Officer (EO) Vimal Kumar, posted at the Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council in Rohtas district, was brutally beaten to death by criminals after stopping his car in Aurangabad district. This horrific incident, which occurred late Saturday night, has sent shockwaves through the administrative department. Police have taken the officer’s driver into custody for suspected involvement, and he is being thoroughly interrogated.
The crime was committed by stopping the car on the highway
This sensational incident occurred when Executive Officer Vimal Kumar was returning home to Patna after completing his work at his office in Dehri. Criminals, who were lying in wait near the Dhanauti Bridge in the Barun police station area of Aurangabad district, overtook his car and forcibly stopped it.
The criminals then pulled Vimal Kumar out of the car and began brutally beating him with sharp weapons. He was immediately rushed to Narayan Medical College Hospital in Jamuhar in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
Questions raised about the driver’s role
Following the incident, the police investigation first focused on the driver, Mithilesh Kumar. According to police sources, despite being present at the scene of the fatal attack that resulted in Vimal Kumar’s tragic death, the driver did not suffer even a scratch. Based on this suspicious behavior, the Aurangabad police immediately arrested the driver, Mithilesh. Rohtas District Magistrate Deepak Kumar Mishra stated that a joint team of Aurangabad and Rohtas police is thoroughly investigating all aspects based on technical evidence and forensic evidence.
Strike announced to protest the murder
The brutal murder of this administrative officer has sparked widespread anger among the state’s civic officials. In protest of this incident, the Bihar Municipal Services Association has announced a strike by all municipal executive officers across the state, beginning August 2nd. This outcry, demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators, has put immense pressure on the state government and police administration. Police have taken action and detained the officer’s driver on suspicion of involvement, and he is being thoroughly interrogated.
