The sudden attack on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President and former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nanded, Maharashtra has shocked the entire country. This serious incident happened when Sukhbir Singh Badal along with his wife and MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal had come to pay obeisance at Gurudwara Mata Sahib Kaur, located about 15 kilometers away from the historic Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib. After having darshan, when he was moving towards the langar hall, an old man wearing blue traditional Nihang clothes suddenly attacked him with a saber. Sukhbir Singh Badal got injured on his right hand in this murderous attack, after which he was immediately admitted to the nearby Yashosai Hospital for treatment. The Chief Minister has directed the Nanded Police to conduct an impartial and thorough investigation into every aspect behind this attack to find out who is behind such an attack on a senior politician. At present, the Nanded administration has issued an alert and tightened the security arrangements in the Gurudwara premises and surrounding areas. The police are also investigating whether this was a well-planned political conspiracy or there is some other reason behind it.
