Patna: There is news of relief for the farmers of Bihar cultivating Kharif crops. To reduce the expenditure on irrigation of crops, the state government has made a provision to provide assistance under the Diesel Subsidy Scheme. The grant amount will be sent directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmers who irrigate their fields with diesel pumpsets.
You will get profit up to Rs 750 per acre
Under the scheme, farmers will get a subsidy of Rs 75 per liter for irrigation with diesel. The government has considered the maximum consumption of 10 liters of diesel for one acre of land as standard. According to this, a farmer can get assistance of up to Rs 750 per acre for one irrigation. A farmer can avail the benefit of this scheme for a maximum of 8 acres of land. With this, farmers who use diesel for irrigation are expected to get some relief from the rising cost of farming.
Varying limits as per crop
The maximum limit of the grant has been fixed on the basis of the number of crops and irrigation. For paddy nursery and jute crops, a grant of up to Rs 1,500 per acre can be given on maximum two irrigations. There is a provision of maximum three irrigations for the crops of paddy, maize, pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables and aromatic and medicinal plants. In these crops, farmers can get a grant of up to Rs 2,250 per acre.
Benefit on irrigation till 30th October
According to the Agriculture Department, the benefit of the scheme will be available only for the diesel purchased and irrigation done during the stipulated period. Farmers will be able to apply for irrigation done till 30 October 2026. One application will relate to only one irrigation.
Will have to apply online
To avail the benefits of the scheme, farmers will have to apply through the website of Bihar Agriculture Department or DBT Agriculture Portal. After scrutiny of the application, the grant amount will be sent directly to the bank account of eligible farmers through DBT.
