Women's hanging room is present in Mathura jail, but it was never used after independence.
There is already a system for hanging women prisoners in Mathura District Jail. However, till now this system has not been used to hang any female prisoner. If Muskaan's death sentence is implemented in future, it will be the first case of a woman being hanged in Mathura jail after independence. According to Jail Superintendent Anshuman Garg, if there is no hindrance in the legal process and necessary formalities are completed, Muskaan can be hanged in Mathura District Jail.
Immediate implementation of death penalty is not possible, High Court confirmation and legal process pending
Even after the death penalty is pronounced, it cannot be immediately implemented. The death penalty awarded by the Sessions Court requires confirmation by the High Court. Apart from this, the convicts also have legal options like appeal and mercy petition. In such a situation, the possibility of Muskaan being hanged in Mathura District Jail will depend on the completion of the judicial process. At present, the discussion regarding the women's hanging house has certainly intensified, but nothing definite can be said yet regarding the date of execution or the final decision.
