Kathua CISF Camp Firing Incident: A very tragic and sensational incident has come to light in the CISF camp located at Basohli in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. A jawan stationed here opened fire on his own comrades indiscriminately after a serious dispute. A total of 4 jawans, including an assistant commandant, have died on the spot in this Kalmukhi incident. A convoy of senior officers of the Kathua Police and CISF rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported.

Kaalmukhi became a conflict during duty

According to reports, the camp was deployed to protect the Sewa-III hydroelectric power project at Mashka village in Basohli, adjacent to the Himachal Pradesh border. Around 7 pm, there was a heated argument between the jawans during shift change. During this brawl, a head constable of 2009 batch started firing on his fellow jawans from his rifle.

4 jawans including the Assistant Commandant lost their lives

Four CISF officers and jawans have lost their lives in this firing. The deceased have been identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector (SI) Laxman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmad and Constable Sandeep Kumar. The Kathua District Police has taken immediate action and arrested the accused head constable and has officially handed him over to police custody.

Order of Court of Inquiry

After this horrific incident, the CISF headquarters has come into action. A ‘Court of Inquiry’ has been officially ordered by the CISF to bring out the truth about the circumstances and reasons that led to such a huge controversy. Besides, the Director General (DG) of CISF himself is directly monitoring the entire matter and the internal investigation.
