NDA leads in Puducherry Exit Poll, big blow to Congress alliance

The exit poll results of Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026 have heated up the political atmosphere. In the projections for this 30-seat assembly, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seems to be getting a clear lead. According to the survey, NDA may get 16 to 20 seats, while the Congress-DMK alliance seems to be limited to between 6 to 10 seats. These figures indicate that the ruling coalition can maintain its hold.

Record 89.87 percent voting recorded in Puducherry

In the elections held on April 9, Puducherry recorded a record 89.87 percent voting, which is the highest voting percentage till date. This huge participation is being linked to public awareness and desire for change. During the elections, issues related to employment, infrastructure and local administration were prominent, on which voters openly expressed their opinions.

Reactions of political leaders

After the exit poll, reactions of political leaders have also started emerging. Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that NDA is emerging as a strong option across the country and will register victory in Puducherry also. At the same time, AINRC chief N. Rangaswami’s popularity is being considered a major reason for this possible success. On the other hand, Congress and DMK leaders have not expressed complete confidence in the exit poll data and have said that the final decision will be clear only after the counting of votes.

A special feature of this election was the active participation of youth and women voters. Apart from this, voters of the third gender have also set a new example by voting more than 91 percent. The influence of local leadership was greater in smaller union territories, where regional issues and candidate image played an important role.

Exit poll results in favor of NDA

Although the exit poll results appear to be in favor of the NDA, the final results will be known only after the counting of votes on May 4. Political analysts believe that in a small area like Puducherry, last-minute equations and local alliances can affect the results.

At present, exit polls have intensified political discussions. Now everyone’s eyes are fixed on May 4, when it will be clear who will form the next government in Puducherry.
