The director of films like ‘Masaan’ and ‘Homebound’ has raised questions about the social representation of villages in the series. He says that the real picture of the village has not been fully shown in the show.

During a conversation, Neeraj Ghaywan said that people consider ‘Panchayat’ as the real glimpse of Indian villages, but according to him this picture is incomplete. He says that only one class of people does not live in any village, whereas almost all the major characters in the series appear to belong to the upper caste.

Praising TVF, Neeraj Ghaywan said that the quality of their shows is very good, but despite this he misses the fact that social diversity is not fully reflected in them. He said that the people making the shows are educated from prestigious institutions of the country, hence it is expected from them that they show the real picture of the society. According to him, the presence of Muslim community and people from backward castes should also be naturally shown in the story of a village.
