After the paper leak controversy in May, the National Testing Agency (NTA) appeared to be under pressure to prove its credibility this time. For this reason, the examination process was made more secure and controlled than ever before. This time the candidates were given additional time of 15 minutes to solve the question paper, which definitely gave them some relief. However, strictness regarding entry time remained intact.

There was tension in Ajmer, Rajasthan when a student named Kulsoom Bano alleged that she was stopped from entering in traditional hijab and burqa. The student said that she had given the exam last time also in the same clothes and she was ready to leave the exam at the cost of her identity. However, seeing the controversy escalating, NTA intervened and later the student was allowed admission. BSF and CRPF personnel were in charge of security in Ajmer.

More than 35 thousand students participated in 75 centers in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, for whose monitoring heavy police force including 4 ACPs and intelligence personnel in plain clothes were deployed.
