Tharoor said that you are running such a system in which fairness of examinations cannot be trusted. Where students have worked very hard in preparation, suddenly they find that the paper has been leaked, there is corruption, dishonesty and the entire process has become tainted. Sometimes exams have to be canceled and started all over again.
He also compared India’s examination system with world class systems and raised questions on its credibility. The Congress leader said, many competitive examinations in the world are conducted in a fair manner, be it SAT, Cambridge examinations or ISC etc. He asked, why is it that only in our government system, disturbances are happening again and again? Why is the government in such a position that it is not able to guarantee the fairness and honesty of a simple process like the national examination? Tharoor held the central government responsible for these continuing crises. He said, this is really the government’s shortcoming and the government should take responsibility and take steps to fix this problem. Otherwise it is a betrayal of an entire generation. For this we can only blame the government.
‘Government and NTS responsible’
He further said that the government, ministry, NTA and all those people are responsible because of which such a situation has arisen. Tharoor said, I believe that the government led by Prime Minister Modi bears full responsibility. This should never happen again. This is not the first time. But this should be the last time.

Exam will be held again on June 21
This comment of Tharoor has come amid the ongoing controversy regarding NEET-UG 2026. The exam has been rescheduled to June 21 following allegations of paper leak and administrative negligence. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the case and has made several arrests. At the same time, protests by student organizations have intensified in many parts of the country.
