NEET-UG 2026 result controversy: NTA strict on fake and AI generated OMR sheets, warns of legal action
Tezzbuzz Desk- After the release of NEET-UG 2026 results, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has adopted a strict stance amid questions being raised regarding alleged irregularities in OMR sheets and scores. The agency has said that many OMR sheets and score-related documents going viral on social media prima facie appear to be fake or prepared with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). NTA has appealed to the students and parents to file complaints only on the basis of genuine and original OMR sheets.
After the declaration of NEET-UG 2026 results, many candidates and their parents had raised questions on social media regarding the exam results and OMR sheets. Some students claimed that there was a difference between the OMR sheets available online and the answers filled by them during the exam. After these complaints, NTA has started investigating the matter. NTA has clarified that no complaint can be accepted as valid merely on the basis of social media posts or viral claims. The agency said that every complaint is being thoroughly investigated and a conclusion will be reached only after verification. During the investigation, some OMR sheets have come to light in which the possibility of tampering has been raised.
The agency warned students and parents that only original OMR sheets will be accepted for the scrutiny process. If a person submits fake documents, altered OMR sheets or AI generated fake documents, legal action can be taken against him. NTA has appealed to the students to avoid any misleading information or unconfirmed claims. The agency said that all complaints are being looked into as per the prescribed procedure to maintain transparency of the examination process. Also, students have been advised to rely only on the information received through official channels.
However, despite NTA’s statement, some candidates’ concerns remain. Many students say that there is a difference between the OMR sheets available on the official website and the answers filled by them during the examination. Some candidates have shared their complaints on social media and demanded an investigation. In one such case, candidate Ibtisham Nassar expressed his concern on social media platform X. He claimed that the pattern of filling answers in the OMR sheet uploaded on the website is not the same as he did during the examination. He says that some questions, which he had deliberately left blank, are visible as solved in the uploaded OMR sheets.
Students’ concerns regarding transparency and fairness in a national level examination like NEET are considered important. Every year lakhs of students appear for this examination for medical admission, hence it is important to resolve any complaint related to OMR sheet and score properly. At present, NTA has assured that all genuine complaints will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken if any irregularity is found. At the same time, regarding the use of fake documents, the agency has given clear indications that such activities will not be accepted under any circumstances.
